Matt Damon is getting ready to head back to space this fall in ‘The Martian.’ He and his star-studded crew are setting course for Mars. However, ahead of their journey into the great unknown, they must be put through rigorous training to prepare for the manned mission to the Red Planet including a 10-day isolation period. Now, the footage from the psychological evaluations of the team has hit the web for the world to see.

Thanks to the ARES: Live archive (AKA the YouTube channel for ‘The Martian’ viral marketing), we get to meet the cast of the upcoming space adventure directed by Ridley Scott and written by Drew Goddard. We also get a taste of the humor carried over from the best-selling novel by Andy Weir, especially when Damon’s Mark Watney ponders Aquaman’s ability to summon whales despite them not being fish. Check it out below, followed by the official synopsis of the film:

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.

This is a pretty great introduction to the characters in ‘The Martian’. As funny as Sebastian Stan and Michael Pena are, Jessica Chastain and Askel Hennie are badass. But the highlight of this whole thing (at least for me) has to be the Aquaman conversation. Not only is it a very ‘Clerks’-esque interchange, but it makes us (me) like Watney off the bat. It’s pretty easy to see why his crew would go back to try to save a guy like this.

That do you think about the latest promotional video for ‘The Martian’? Are you looking forward to Ridley Scott’s next foray into space? And why do you think Aquaman can control whales? Sound off in the comments.

‘The Martian’ starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, and Donald Glover hits theaters on November 25, 2015.
