The Heroes may be Reborn, but how long will they stay that way?  In shades of the ‘X-Men,’ on the reunion of  ‘Heroes Reborn,’ the existence of super powered beings, referred to as Evos, is now known to the public and they are being hunted and killed.  The reason?  Prior to the show’s beginning, the town of Odessa, TX was destroyed, apparently by beings with these magnificent abilities.

Now a group of the original ‘Heroes,’ headed by HRG (Jack Coleman), including Hiro (Masi Oka), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis) and Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) must help save others from those that want them eliminated, most notably Luke (a surprisingly sinister Zachary Levi) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni).

The new trailer is moody, stylish and action packed.  Here’s hoping that this new miniseries will recapture the magic of the earlier seasons of the groundbreaking series.

‘Heroes Reborn,’ like ‘Heroes’ is not simply a one outlet program.  The original show utilized a fake Primatech Paper website and online comics, as well as actual comics, to enhance loyal fans’ enjoyment of the show proper.  ‘Heroes Reborn’ will tie into two video games that fill in the gap between the end of the first show and the new one.  And since it’s 2015, you can download an app with exclusive content including the web series ‘Dark Matter,’ the first episode of which is already available and was also screened for the audience at Comic Con.

Show creator Tim Kring acknowledged that the original show lost some viewers after the stellar first season, when the show introduced some less-than-engaging new characters and meandered from the gripping tone that sucked viewers in in the first place.  “We’ve had a long rest and a good night’s sleep,” Kring said. “We’re ready to save the world again.”

Are you ready to be saved?

“A year ago, a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, left the city decimated. Blamed for the tragic event, those with extraordinary abilities are in hiding or on the run from those with nefarious motives. Two such vigilantes include Luke (Zachary Levi, “Chuck”) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2”), who are seeking to avenge a tragic loss.

Noah Bennet, aka H.R.G. (Jack Coleman, “Heroes”), has gone off the grid but conspiracy theorist Quentin Frady (Henry Zebrowski, “A to Z”) finds him and opens his eyes to the truth behind the Odessa tragedy. While in hiding, some are discovering their newfound skills. Awkward teen Tommy (Robbie Kay, “Once Upon a Time”) just wants to be normal and win the girl of his dreams, Emily (Gatlin Green, “Criminal Minds”), but normalcy is virtually impossible after learning of a new ability that terrifies him. Coming from a very sheltered upbringing, a bold and ethereal teenager, Malina (Danika Yarosh, “Shameless”), has been told she is destined for greatness. In Tokyo, a quiet and unique young woman, Miko (Kiki Sukezane, “Death Yankee 3”), is trying to track down her missing father while hiding an extraordinary secret that will make her a force to be reckoned with. Elsewhere, a different type of hero is emerging through former soldier Carlos (Ryan Guzman, “The Boy Next Door”). Meanwhile, Erica (Rya Kihlstedt, “Masters of Sex”), the head of the highly successful tech conglomerate Renautas, has an agenda of her own.

For better or for worse, some are fated to cross paths with assorted heroes of the past, including Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), among others. Yet, together, their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world and mankind.”

‘Heroes Reborn’ rises from the ashes on September 24, 2015 on NBC.
