‘X-Men: Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut’ arrives on July 14, and while most of the new changes to the hit movie feature the title character, played by Anna Paquin. But this is release is truly a director’s cut and Bryan Singer has restored even more moments from the film that don’t include Rogue.
In ‘X-Men: First Class’ one subplot centered around a blooming romance between the timid Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and the awkward, nerdy Hank/Beast (Nicholas Hoult). When Mystique decided to take Magneto’s more extreme side, that romance was presumably doomed.
But Singer actually touched upon this storyline in ‘Days of Future Past,’ but with such a complex plot and so many characters, this portion was left on the cutting room floor, alongside Rogue’s escape sequence.
And speaking of winding up on the floor… check out this heated reunion between the two blue mutants.
“With a never-before-seen, alternate cut of the film—plus nearly 90 minutes of all-new, immersive special features, the X-Men: Days of Future Past RogueCut takes you deeper into the X-Men universe than ever before. Rogue makes her return as the all-star characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves and unite to battle armies of murderous Sentinel robots who are hunting down mutants and humans alike!”
If you are at SDCC on July 11th, you can catch a special screening of this director’s cut. Otherwise, snap it up on the following Tuesday when it goes on sale everywhere on DVD and BluRay.
What do you think? Are you glad to see Beast and Mystique’s star-crossed romance addressed in this installment? Are there any other plotlines you would have liked to have seen revisited?
