Up until now, the details surrounding the plot and characters in Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ have been largely shrouded in mystery. Sure, we know that the film will feature a number of cameos from some of DC Comics’ biggest heroes and villains, but we don’t really know how they’ll factor into anything. With The Licensing Expo kicking off in Las Vegas, we’re bound to find out a bit more about some of the biggest movies of the year thanks to new promotional images and items. And as luck would have it, the first synopsis for the follow up to ‘Man of Steel’ has dropped. However, don’t expect any answers to any mysteries here.
Earlier today, the first official plot description of next year’s showdown between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel hit the web. Although, if you’ve seen any of the teasers or watched the trailer (or perused the title of the movie at all), then the synopsis isn’t exactly a surprise to you. Check it out below:
“Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.”
The only thing that might even remotely raise some questions is this “new threat.” Could it be referring to Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor? Or does it reference something even bigger than the ruthless tech genius? Might it have something to do with the rumors that Doomsday may rear his ugly head in the DC Cinematic Universe next year? Considering how far out we are from the film’s release, I doubt that we’ll get concrete answers this early, so share your thoughts and theories in the comment section.
‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Jesse Eisenberg hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
