Simon Pegg has been on a rampage at CinemaCon with interviews lately and from them we’ve found out a few great nuggets about ‘Star Trek 3.’ Not only has he unofficially confirmed Idris Elba’s part in the film, but also that there’ll be a small tribute to the late Leonard Nimoy. But the best news of all, is the possible reveal of the title courtesy of TrekMovie.

Regarding Elba‘s role, in an interview with MTV Pegg does confirm Elba’s participation stating “that’s happening” and how they are trying to write a “kick-ass” role for this “extraordinary” actor who is rumored to play the film’s villain:

“It will be [an original character], yes. This is the five-year mission now, we’re out there. We don’t always have to keep bumping into the same people…It’s a massive universe. So we’re gonna try and reflect that in the movie.”

Fans of the franchise were shocked with the news of Leonard Nimoy‘s passing and in an interview with ComicBook.com, Pegg hints at how they will include a tribute to the actor who brought us Spock for so many years:

“It would be crazy not to pay a tribute to Leonard in some way. His part in Star Trek and his effect on the world through Star Trek has been enormous… It’s also the 50th anniversary of the show as well, so I would hope there will be some kind of acknowledgement. What form that takes? Wait and see but he is literally a legend and his passing is very sad.”

I have no doubt that Pegg will find a way to do him justice.

Lastly, thanks to Trek Movie who discovered that the name registered with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) for the film is ‘Star Trek Beyond.’ While there has been no official verification that is the title as of yet, before a film’s release, studios do need to register a title with the MPAA so this may be a good indication of what to expect.

The title does seem to go along with the rumor that this film will begin the 5 year mission of the Enterprise and what Pegg has said in the past:

“I think we just want to take it forward with the spirit of the TV show. And it’s a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before – where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation. But yeah, that’s the mood at the moment.”.
