Last week, we learned that Jada Pinkett Smith would not be returning for the second season of ‘Gotham’. However, though they wouldn’t reveal anything about the fate of Fish Mooney, the producers did tease that there are “interesting twists and turns into the finale of season one.” And while it looks like that journey leads to the departure of one key figure on the Fox comic book drama, another one will be added before the season ends that may be familiar to fans of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

According to Deadline, Chris Chalk has joined the cast of ‘Gotham’ as Wayne Enterprises’ resident tech genius Lucius Fox. Chalk is best known for his roles in ’12 Years A Slave’ and ‘The Newsroom,’ but now he’ll help shape the young life of Gotham City’s most famous resident. In the comics (and in Nolan’s recent Batman films where he was played by the legendary Morgan Freeman), Fox becomes a mentor and trusted confidant to Bruce Wayne. He also goes on to become the president and CEO of Wayne Enterprises, but we’ll see how this new version of the iconic DC Comics mythology paints the character. Regardless of any changes in store, hopefully Lucius still comes with some cool gadgets, even if Bruce is still too young to use them. His first appearance will be on episode 21, which airs on May 6th, and there’s an option for the actor to return for Season Two.

What do you think about Chris Chalk playing Lucius Fox on ‘Gotham’? How do you think he’ll factor into the current state of Wayne Enterprises? And what kind of tech are you hoping that Fox brings into play? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
