If you’ve been on the fence as to if you should see ‘Game of Thrones‘ on IMAX the show’s Executive Producers David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have chimed in on why you should! The final two episodes from the fourth season are on a one week run on IMAX theaters across the nation and all lead into an exclusive preview for the fifth season. If that isn’t reason enough for you to go see it though the following might be.
According to Weiss “I’m still kind of in shock. It’s a completely different viewing experience, one that’s so immersive and so superior.”
Benioff adds in that for the music “Ramin’s fingerprints are all over this show” with Weiss having one of the key selling points of “If you have a 25-foot mammoth attacking a 700-foot wall, you better have the music that can shoulder that image.” Let’s be honest, no matter how good some of our home audio setups are they can’t hold a candle to an IMAX presentation.
Not only is the quality of the picture and sound be what driving you to the theater though as Benioff says “The communal experience of being surrounded by other people who are gasping at the same moments is the way it’s really meant to be seen. To feel like you’re there is just something you don’t get while watching on television.”
I’m sure that is a feeling we’ve all had when it comes to big budget films where the rest of the audience reaction makes key moments deliver even more of an impact.
IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster is excited about the production value saying that “I know everybody calls Thrones a television show, but it looks like a movie. It’s unbelievably cinematic. It blew us away.”
