Lifetime’s new show ‘Damien‘ has attached a star to lead the series as well as a director and executive producer.

When the network initially announced that they were following up the classic film ‘The Omen’ with a television series, I was skeptical to say the least. However, with ‘The Walking Dead‘ alum Glen Mazzara putting it all together and the network ordering the series straight to order, it has caught my attention. It probably helps with how much I enjoyed ‘The Lottery‘ and the fact that Lifetime truly seems to be attempting to bring more genre shows to the small screen.

First up to star in the film is Bradley James which fans of the series ‘Merlin’ are going to be super stoked to see the star going onto another show on the small screen. On top of that, the series now has a director for the first episode. Executive producer Shekhar Kapur (‘Elizabeth’,’New York, I Love You’) will make his directorial debut for the small screen by helming the pilot.

While it has been quite some time since the 1976 classic was released, it is still as an iconic film as when it first hit the theaters. Fans of the movie will have a new take on the continuing story of young Damien Thorn and those unfamiliar with the movies will have a reason to go back and check out at least the first one. The new series will have a six episode first season and follows Damien as an adult who is unaware of his origins and must come to terms with the fact that he is indeed the Antichrist.

Are you happy to see Bradley James returning to the small screen in ‘Damien’? Do you think he’ll play a convincing Antichrist as he learns that he is destined to bring about the end of the world as we know it? Share your thoughts below!
