With ‘Gotham’ focusing on the origins of villains of the city Batman will later call home as well as the detectives that make up its police force, it should come to no surprise that we’re being introduced to Assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent. Nicholas D’Agosto (‘Masters of Sex’,’ Final Destination 5′) has been cast to take on this idealistic young man and depending how long the series lasts, this will put him in the role of the future crime lord known as ‘Two-Face’ as well.
While Nolan did an amazing job at casting Aaron Eckhart as Dent in ‘The Dark Knight’, I was only partially sold on his performance as Two-Face. Hopefully D’Agosto will be able to pull it off a little better. At the very least we know that the series will portray Dent in the light that he usually shines in. An idealistic rising star who is fighting corruption in Gotham.
Here is the official description of the character from the series:
In the Batman prequel series, based on the DC characters, Harvey Dent is a bright, charming, idealistic Assistant District Attorney whose sole mission is to eradicate the crime and corruption that has poisoned Gotham. Although he will one day serve as the white knight Gotham needs so badly as a DA, Dent also gives us a fleeting glimpse of the hideous villain he will become — Two-Face.
With that tagline of a fleeting glimpse of the hideous villain that he’ll become you have to wonder if he is going to have a temper that he is always working to control or if they’ll give him some kind of precursor to not being quite sane.
They have already introduced the man who has historically disfigured Dent in the comics so the groundwork is being laid already for his eventual disfigurement.
Are you looking forward to Dent making his appearance on the show?
