After going through three name changes since 2011, the upcoming sci-fi action movie starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt called ‘Edge of Tomorrow is finally hitting theaters next week. To hype up the release, the final trailer went live last week, along with a number of clips and stills from the film. Now, we have an extended featurette featuring the two leads that give their audience a look into what they can expect from their latest movie.

In the past, I’ve called this movie a twisted, sci-fi ‘Groundhog Day’, but Cruise and Blunt have set out to prove that ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ is much more than that. While the element of reliving the same day over and over again are shared between the two films, the pair explain in this thirteen-minute video that “the heart of this film is determination, and the perseverance of the human spirit”. You can check out everything they had to say about the movie’s theme and their experiences on set below, followed by the official synopsis of the movie:

Lt. Col. Bill Cage is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped into combat. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an alpha alien down with him. But he awakens back at the beginning of the same day and is forced to fight and die again…and again – as physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop.

What do you think about the latest featurette for ‘Edge of Tomorrow’? Are you planning on checking it out once it hits theaters? Sound off in the comments.

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, and Jeremy Piven hits theaters on June 6, 2014.
