We heard quite a bit about what was and wasn’t happening with the ‘Evil Dead‘ franchise last year. First it was continuing than it wasn’t and thae it was again. Now it seems that writer and director Fede Alvarez isn’t committing to any kind of a timeline for ‘Evil Dead 2’. When recently promoting ‘From Dusk Till Dawn‘, Alvarez stated that things are still moving forward but there is no rush to get the movie into theaters.

Apparently the crew is all working together:

“Sam, Bruce and Rob Tapert and I are good friends and we talk to one another often and we’re always coming up with new ideas and projects. Sam is teasing Army of Darkness 2, which he is working on the script with his brother, but at the same time Evil Dead 2 is something we definitely want to do at some point. … It’s always in the background and always in our heads. And every time I talk with Sam, we’re bouncing around ideas to find what would be the perfect sequel.”

So it looks as if once again that ‘Army of Darkness 2’ is slowing down production of ‘Evil Dead 2’. The movies have long been rumored to show the two worlds collide in a future crossover where Ash and Mia will end up meeting to save the world from the ultimate evil. It is unclear if that rumor is actually the plan or if that is still even the direction they are going. What is clear is that we still have a wait in front of us before any other film in the franchise is made next.

What do you think about the delay for the next ‘Evil Dead’ film? Does it have you worried that it might be getting delayed forever or does it make sense to be pushed back if it will follow up ‘Army of Darkness 2’? Share your thoughts below!
