Nearly two weeks ago, we learned that a special post-credits scene from ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ would be attached to ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. While that’s quite a perplexing turn of events that will most likely not result in an X-Men/Spider-Man crossover, it appears that another film will be teased at the end of the wall-crawler’s latest big screen adventure as well.

Back in December, Sony Pictures announced that they would be expanding their Marvel franchise by spinning off two new movies from their ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ series, ‘Venom’ and ‘The Sinister Six’, which would both focus on some of the web-slinger’s most ferocious foes. Now, it appears that we’ll be getting a sneak peak at who will be on the notorious team during the credits of Spidey’s newest film. The studio announced earlier this week that if you use the Shazam app during the credit sequence of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, then you’d get a special look “into the sinister future.” Here’s the official statement, courtesy of /Film:

After seeing THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 – opening on May 2nd – be sure to Shazam the end credit sequence featuring the song “It’s on Again” by Alicia Keys featuring Kendrick Lamar to unlock a look into the sinister future.  Download @Shazam on iTunes or GooglePlay. #SpiderMan

ComingSoon realized that they didn’t have to wait until this weekend to Shazam the song since it’s out already, so when they tried it, they unlocked the six images that supposedly reveal the member of the Sinister Six. You can see the pictures in the gallery below:

So by the looks of it, we’ll be seeing Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Rhino, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, and Chameleon in Drew Goddard’s upcoming villain team up. However, it sounds like the writer/director may not have set that line-up in stone just yet. According to The Wrap, the six members of the team have not been officially decided yet because Goddard is still finalizing the script. They also say that the final teaser is Mysterio, not Chameleon, but that’s not how it looks to me.

We already know from previous comments from the producers that the original team from the comics consisting of Doc Ock, Electro, Vulture, Kraven, Mysterio, and Sandman won’t be making an appearance in the film. We don’t even know for sure if Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man will make an appearance. But we do know that many, many villains have occupied a spot on the infamous team since it’s inception in 1964, so they have a lot of names to choose from.

What do you think of the ‘Sinister Six’ teaser at the end of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’? Do you think these images reveal who will be on the villainous team? Are there any other characters that you think should be on the roster? Let us know your picks in the comment section.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper, Paul Giamatti, and Sally Field swings into theaters in 3D on May 2, 2014.
