Bryan Singer (‘Mockingbird Lane’, ‘Jack the Giant Slayer ‘) has a lot to contend for in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. After all, he is playing with the timeline to fix it in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past‘. There are already a few fan favorites who aren’t making appearances in ‘Days of Future Past’ such as Cyclops and Jean Grey who may be good fits for ‘Apocalypse’, but there are two key characters that Singer would love to include in this film.

So who do we have a good chance seeing on the big screen? Well according to Singer:

“I’m considering Gambit and potentially a young Nightcrawler for ‘Apocalypse’. [I was] going to have Nightcrawler appear [in Days of Future Past] and even wrote a scene, but I felt that we were forcing too many mutants in known history.”

With Nightcrawler almost making an appearance in the next X-Men film, I have a feeling there is a really good chance we’ll see him again moving forward. While ‘X-Men: Origins’ was painful for fans of the franchise to watch in terms of Deadpool and more, we did get a wonderful rendition of Gambit so hearing that he may return is a bonus.

There has also been a nasty rumor flying around that with Apocalypse being the first mutant, he was instead going to be an alien in the film. Thankfully Singer has decided that rumor needed to be debunked and quick! “People were concerned we were making Apocalypse an alien. It’s odd,” he told Cine PREMIERE. “I don’t know where that came from.”

That’s great news! Unlike all of the rumored in ‘Fantastic Four’, Singer at least seems to understand we want as much of the comics as we can get and not a bunch of changes from the source of material. This is noted in why he wants to have an ancient mutant in the first place:

“One thing that interests me is the notion of ancient mutants. What would people thousands of years ago, without the benefit of science, think mutants were? And more importantly, what would mutants thousands of years ago think they were? Gods? Titans? Angels? Demons? And if such mutants did exist thousands of years ago, what became of them? Did one survive?”

So what do you think about Gambit and Nightcrawler showing up in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’? Are you looking forward to it? Do you think it is a movie for a ripe cameo by Cable from the upcoming ‘X-Force’ film? Share your thoughts below!
