Earlier this month, filming started on the final chapter of Marvel Studios’ Phase Two, ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’. Pictures have started to leak online of Joss Whedon’s superhero team up sequel as they shoot in South Africa, but it looks like the studio is preparing a little sneak peek of their own for the upcoming 2015 film and for the rest of the remaining movies scheduled for this block of projects.
Late last week, Entertainment Weekly broke the news that ABC will air a one-hour special called ‘Marvel Studios: Assembling A Universe’ on March 18th at 8:00pm. This special will offer a “front row seat to the inception of Marvel Studios, the record-breaking films, the cultural phenomenon, and further expansion of the universe by Marvel Television”.
Expected to be included in this all new look at the Hollywood side of the House of Ideas are a few extended looks at ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, in addition to Whedon’s next feature. Although, with only an hour run time, it’s uncertain just how extended these looks will actually be. For all we know, we could just bee seeing the San Diego Comic-Con footage from Hall H for the sequel to ‘The Avengers’. But with the movie already filming some scenes and behind the scenes material being teased, maybe we’ll get to hear from the mastermind himself about where he’s at in the creative process that will bring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes together on the big screen once again.
For more information on the upcoming special, here’s the description from the official press release:
Marvel’s first television special documents the exciting story behind Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from all of the Marvel films, the Marvel One-Shots and ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Viewers will walk a clear path through this amazing and nuanced universe, featuring sneak peeks at the future of ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ on ABC, new footage from Marvel Studios’ upcoming theatrical releases, ‘Captain America: The Winter Solider’ and ‘Guardians of The Galaxy’, and a sneak peek at the upcoming Marvel’s ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’.
The whole thing sounds like one big DVD extra that covers the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and it should be very interesting to check out once the special airs. Now the question is does all this entice you to tune in to watch ‘Marvel Studios: Assembling A Universe’? What do you hope to see when it hits the airwaves in two weeks?
