X-Men: Days of Future Past‘ will be released on May 23rd and that means we’ll be seeing promtional material on the film. It’s what should be the center focus, but when Bryan Singer announced ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘, everyone’s interest suddenly changed. Instead of the movie that’s being released this year, many of us want to see and know about that film which is coming out in 2016. ‘X-Men: Apocalyse’ will focus on one of the most interesting villains Marvel has ever created for the X-Men. Not to let us all wonder, Singer has decided to start dropping hints at what we can expect from the film that’s due out in 2 years!

We already know that Singer has been collaborating on the script for the next film and now he’s talking a little bit of what it entails. Right now he’s doing a lot of the behind the scenes work and has yet to be signed on to helm the project stating:

“I’m co-writing the story and I’m producing it. I’m negotiating to direct. We’re in the process. We’re trying to figure it out, schedules. My desire would be to direct it.”

If he’s able to pull off the high ratings that he did with the first 2 X-Men films and not the blunder of ‘Superman Returns’, I’m pretty sure that Fox will be open to letting him! Personally if he does another great film, I’d love to see him continue on the series so we don’t have another case of dealing with a film as disappointing as ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’.

So what did Singer have to say about the movie itself? First up, ”X-Men: Days of Future Past’ will play right into it. As of now,  he’s undecided if there will be a post-credit scene teasing the 2016 film as they did in ‘The Wolverine‘ and every movie that Marvel Films has put out. Between you and me, I would say that it would be a mistake not include one at this time as the audiences not only expect them but want them! (The one in ‘The Wolverine’ was actually my favorite part of the film!)

So while he’s still deciding if there will be a tease, Singer did mention that there will be something that happens in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ that starts the events of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. So we WILL see a concrete setup somewhere in the plot of the film! I suspect it will deal with the time travel that changes the timeline. However, on top of that “something” in the movie that will be brought up, the director also hints that:

“It will also address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It’s something that’s always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers.”

Now historical mutant-cy could easily be part of the lead in to Apocalypse as he is from ancient Egyptian times.

Are you excited to hear more early news about ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ or is it too early to start thinking about the film until we see how ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ ends up?
