The troubled Doug Liman-directed science fiction war movie, ‘The Edge of Tomorrow’ appears to be inching closer to release as the studio has released a set of photos a trailer and has kicked off a viral campaign on Twitter.

Based on a graphic novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, the film had its name changed twice, originating as ‘We Are Mortals’ then became ‘All You Need Is Kill’ before being renamed ‘The Edge of Tomorrow’ a couple of months back.  Then a few months ago, we reported that after the movie had completed principle photography, a brand new character was written in and Jeremy Piven was being added as Col. Marx.

The movie stars Tom Cruise as Lt. Col. Bill Cage, a soldier with no previous combat experience, who gets dumped into the middle of a battle field where he must battle aliens, but is killed almost immediately.  The film has been heavily compared to the Bill Murray comedy classic ‘Groundhog’s Day’ as Cage finds himself caught in a time loop and must relive the day over and over.  Emily Blunt co-stars.

The Twitter account @EmbeddedUDF is “reporting” from the front line in Verdun, France on the Earth’s defense efforts… and things aren’t going well.  Here are some samples:
