A couple day ago we got the first US teaser trailer for ‘Godzilla’, the remake of Toho’s classic giant reptile who launched an entire franchise and spawned numerous imitations, many from Toho itself.  This version looks much more faithful to the original, an atomic war parable, than the 1998 Matthew Broderick version, which was essentially a ‘Jurassic Park’ knock-off.

Now, there is a second trailer from Japan.  It’s very similar to the US trailer, but a few scenes of carnage are different and in a way, more violent.  Also shown is Japanese-born actor Ken Watanabe perhaps to court that nation’s audience.  Watch for yourself below:

Here is the movie’s synopsis:

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

So yeah, it’s slightly different… but both teaser trailers look pretty good.  It’s a tiny bit frustrating that we only get the slightest glimpse of the title monster, though.  No one is going to see that movie for the humans in it!

‘Godzilla’ will be released May 16th, 2014 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston.
