Earlier this year, it was announced that SyFy had greenlit a new original series from producer Ronald D. Moore. After bringing the sci-fi world such iconic shows as ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation‘, ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’, ‘Roswell’, ‘Caprica’, and ‘Battlestar Galactica’, Moore is now working on a new show called ‘Helix’, which follows a group of scientists in the Arctic whose mission is to investigate possible disease outbreaks. But as they make a breakthrough, these men and women of science learn that they may save the world or destroy it.

A few months ago, we got to see the first trailer for the show featuring some weird black ooze. Now, that ooze is back in a new teaser for the series, which is set to debut some time in 2014. You can check out the video below:

With San Diego Comic-Con kicking off this week and SyFy definitely making an appearance at the con, one might wonder if the network would be sharing anything more from this mysterious new show. So far, besides the unusual videos, all we have to go off of is this synopsis:

Helix is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation.

Time will tell if we see something new about ‘Helix’ this weekend, but until that happens, let us know what you think of the new show so far. Are you glad that SyFy is going back to it’s roots with original programming like this? Are you curious enough about this new show to tune in whenever it premieres? The comment section is right down there if you’re willing to share.
