In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division have had a number of base facilities. In ‘The Avengers’, when one was destroyed by Loki, they relocated to the Hellicarrier. Now, Cap isn’t the only one to be getting some new gear because in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, we’re about to see another space that S.H.I.E.L.D. calls home.
According to an exclusive report from Comic Book Movie, the Cleveland crew of Cap’s current cinematic crusade has been filming at the Lorain Avenue Bridge, which is locally known as the Fairview Bridge. Also, they have been spotted at the Cleveland Museum of Art as well. Though seemingly random and unrelated, these two locations will act as the exterior and interior of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s island base known as the Triskelion.
First introduced in the Marvel Ultimate Universe, the Triskelion was a compound on an island off the coast of New York City that acted as a base for The Ultimates, a team of heroes that was a precursor to The Avengers in that timeline, as well as a super-human prison. After being destroyed by enemies and eventually transported to the Iranian desert, Triskelions began popping up in other countries (such as China) in addition to the new one built in the bay near Manhattan.
Previously, it has been said that S.H.I.E.L.D. will play a bigger role in Steve Rogers’ latest solo adventure, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he popped up in one of the organization’s houses for a (possibly uninvited) visit. It’s currently unknown how much time will be spent at the Triskelion or if it will be a prominent fixture in the film. So far, we just know that it will debut in this upcoming sequel.
What do you think of The Ultimates’ base, the Triskelion, making an appearance in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’? Are you excited to see how it’s depicted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? And to go one step further, do you think Agent Coulson and his team on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will operate out of this base as well? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Emily VanCamp hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
