So far, we’ve gotten a healthy dose of the incredible Idris Elba in the various trailers that have been released for Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming giant monster flick, ‘Pacific Rim’. In more than one of those spots, he’s declared that they’re “cancelling the apocalypse”, but in the first clip from the movie, he gives quite the inspiring earful to co-star Charlie Hunnam to get his character back in the game.
While this clip doesn’t have any Kaiju (giant monsters) or Jaegers (giant robots) causing mass destruction, it manages to show off the excellent acting ability that we’ve seen time and time again from the award-winning British actor. While many people are probably more excited to see Del Toro’s take on the classic Japanese cinema staple, I’m always open to seeing more of Idris Elba. I even trudged through ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’, in which he was the only bearable part of that “film”. It’s only a matter of time until his name comes up at the Academy Awards for something.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end.
