Back in April, shortly after production started on ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, the above concept art of Cap’s new look was released, but quickly taken down. Based on the image, Steve Rogers would be sporting a look very similar to the costume that was used when he was the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. during the Heroic Age storyline in his upcoming Phase Two film, except with a helmet. Then, the first set pics hit the web confirming this new wardrobe change when a spy managed to get some shots from a closed set. After that, Comic Book Movie, who broke the news about the new suit in the first place, shared another piece of concept art showing off a full frontal view of the new gear. However, since those first pictures surfaced, we’ve only spotted Chris Evans on set in his civilian clothing, which lead some to believe that Cap may not be in costume very much in his new movie. But a new report and more set pictures have recently emerged that might indicate the contrary.

According to JoBlo, not only will the Sentinel of Liberty unleash his Super Soldier costume, but he’ll also be bringing back one of his popular retro attires as well. The report says that their sources tell them that a series of events may unfold that find Steve breaking into the Smithsonian to reclaim an outfit that is rightfully his and was last seen in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’:

“This is Cap’s S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform (obviously) but for circumstances unknown (either it getting destroyed or Cap hating it), at some point in the film, Steve breaks into the Smithsonian and steals back his 40’s uniform. So for all of us that loved the Johnston suit, Captain America will be back in it by the end of the movie. Sort of takes the sting away from this lameness.”

It’s interesting to note that this costume situation may even play into the plot and the idea of jogging a certain someone’s memories. By recovering his old uniform, it’s possible that Cap might be thinking that it should reawaken the true identity of an old friend turned against him. While that’s not exactly confirmed, it’s an interesting notion to think about. Not to mention that scene of Steve breaking into the museum sounds awesome.

But before he goes back to his outfit from his first feature film, he’ll be sporting the new suit a bit more. Comic Book Movie had a few shots of Evans’ stunt double wearing the suit while shooting, so you can get a better look at it in the gallery below:

The only thing that I’m left wondering is what happened to the suit from ‘The Avengers’? That one kinda grew on me after a while, so I wouldn’t mind seeing it again. And for all we know, we might since the Russo brothers seem to be bringing out most of the Captain’s closet for their film.

Anyway, what are your feelings on Steve Rogers’ new suit in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’? Are you a fan of the Super Soldier suit? Are you excited that his World War II uniform will be making a comeback as well? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Emily VanCamp hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
