Ever since the end of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’, movie goers have been waiting to see what Peter Jackson had up his sleeve for the second installment of the trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Well, wait no more as the first trailer has finally been released!

The film picks up after the near death escape of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen), Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) and the rest of the dwarven crew from the Goblin King’s underground kingdom and their encounter with The White Orc.

The big draw of this second film will be Bilbo’s meeting with Smaug, voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch (‘Star Trek Into Darkness’). While we know the character that Cumberbatch is playing in this film, we probably won’t be seeing the full unveiling of Smaug until closer to the film’s release (although we do get a good look of his face), akin to what New Line Cinema did with Gollum (Andy Serkis).

When it was first announced that the ‘The Hobbit’ would be turned into a three parter, many were skeptical about whether Jackson would have enough material to even make 3 movies out of 1 book, but it looks like Jackson is doing the work justice.
