We’re less than two weeks away from M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film ‘After Earth’ hitting theaters, so we’re nearly into the final push to get people excited about it. We’ve gotten TV spots and stills from the film so far, but not much else really. Well, now we get a deeper look into the sci-fi father/son tale from the mind behind ‘The Happening’, ‘The Village’, and ‘The Sixth Sense’.
Thanks to Collider, we can see three new clips from the movie featuring stars Will Smith and Jaden Smith. In the first one, the older Smith’s character, Cypher, reveals his son’s mission in order for them to stay alive. Then, it moves onto a clip of the younger Smith being blatantly disobedient to his father, which could result in a pretty gruesome interaction with predators. Finally, we finish things off with Kitai being introduced to some of the wildlife of this new Earth. You could watch all three in the video below:
In addition to the new clips, the report shares a three-minute behind the scenes video showing what it was like on set with the cast and crew. Presented without narration or any sort of order, this compilation of slice of life footage let’s the viewer be a fly on the wall as it shows the process of Shyamalan and his crew as they create their latest work. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be on set with Will and Jaden Smith, then here’s your chance to experience part of that:
While the behind the scenes video may not have been much, the clips are certainly interesting. We get an extended look at the world that these characters are inhabiting and get a real feel of the danger that they’re in. But don’t mistake my reaction for excitement just yet. M. Night has burned me before, so I’m still weary of what he has in store for his upcoming film. I’ve already started throwing ideas around as to what the twist is in this one.

A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige and his legendary father, Cypher, stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
