It’s no secret that one of the reasons Paramount delayed the release of ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ was so that they could capitalize on the rising star power of Channing Tatum.

Tatum plays Captain Duke Hauser, leader of the Joes, and in the original version of ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation,’ his character basically didn’t last too long in the film. Then a little movie called ‘The Vow’ came along followed by ’21 Jump Street’ –both box office hits and Tatum became a rising star to watch. (Not ot mention his stint on ‘Magic Mike,’ but I digress…) While this film is a great vehicle for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to star in, the studios also knew that having Tatum around more would be a good boost for the box office.

To prove this fact, Paramount has released this featurette and clip featuring Tatum. In the featurette, Tatum discusses his role as Duke and what fans can expect of him in this film. The second video shows a rather entertaining bonding moment in the bromance of Roadblock and Duke.

I can’t help but say that regardless of more or less Tatum on screen, I still think ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ looks like a great popcorn chomping rollercoaster of a time in the theaters.

We’ll soon find out if this is the case when the film is released on March 28th.
