Ever since we first saw Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk in ‘The Avengers’ last summer, the question on everyone’s mind was when were we going to get another solo Hulk movie. At last year’s San Diego Comic Con, the slate of films for Marvel’s Phase Two was revealed and there was no Hulk to be found. Later, Kevin Feige expressed his enthusiasm for the character, but said that nothing would probably come together until after ‘The Avengers 2’. Now, since Bruce Banner’s big, green alter ego has been in the news lately because Marvel Studios creative overlord Joss Whedon debunked rumors of ‘Planet Hulk’ and ‘World War Hulk’ movies in the works, the man behind the monster spoke up about the next time we’ll see Mr. Always Angry.
According to /Film, Mark Ruffalo, the latest (and greatest) actor to step into Dr. Banner’s shoes, explicitly said that he won’t be hulking out until Joss Whedon’s follow-up to highly successful superhero team up film. Check out the tweet that he sent out into the world regarding his Phase Two activity.
Moments later, the actor reminded fans that there is still hope. Though there’s not one in the books right now, he states that he wants to see Hulk standalone once again some day.
With Marvel’s films planned until 2015, including Phase Three’s ‘Ant-Man’, there isn’t much room for the Hulk, however, the line-up that will build up to ‘The Avengers 3’ hasn’t been revealed yet, so there’s a chance that we could see Banner break of on his own then.
Also, take note that Ruffalo said that we won’t be seeing Hulk until ‘The Avengers 2’, but what about Bruce Banner? It’s possible that he could pop up in ‘Iron Man 3’, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, or any of the other Phase Two movie or their post-credits scenes. I find it highly unlikely that the only appearance for Banner in Phase Two will be in the next Avengers film. I have a feeling that we’ll see him sooner than we think in some way shape or form.
What do you think about Mark Ruffalo’s involvement in Marvel’s Phase Two? Are you disappointed that we won’t see Hulk until ‘The Avengers 2’? Where do you think Bruce Banner will pop up before then? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
‘The Avengers 2’ hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
