With Robert Kirkman’s smashing success of ‘The Walking Dead’ on the small screen it’s not a surprise that we’d see another of his properties picked up. This time around it looks as if FOX International Channels has snagged the rights to an upcoming comic by Kirkman that focuses upon exorcism.
This is actually quite breaking news as I can’t find details of the release of the comic itself quite yet (or a title.) It doesn’t appear to have even been mentioned until the press release of it being made into a television show so let’s explore a little of what this untitled exorcism show is going to be about:
Told through the Kirkman prism, the series follows a young man, Kyle Barnes, who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a spiritual journey to find answers, but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it. Kirkman will serve as executive producer alongside “The Walking Dead” executive producer David Alpert of Circle of Confusion.
Let’s see: character driven, a journey, end of the world. Sounds like a typical Kirkman story! While I say that’s typical, I don’t mean that negatively in any way as I’m a huge fan of his work on both ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Invincible’ which could both fall into that rough of a description.
No news on a release date for either but as the comic hasn’t even been announced to date, nor a publisher for it, we’ll probably have a bit of a wait ahead of us.
Now if only a network like HBO or Showtime would pick up ‘Invincible’.
