I’ll admit it. I really don’t watch the Superbowl for the game. I’m there for the food and, of course, the amazing commercials that seem to come out only during the 4 hours the pre-game and game are on. Last year’s Superbowl game gave way to new trailers for ‘The Avengers,’ ‘John Carter,’ ‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ and ‘Battleship.’ This year is no different as studios continue to take advantage of the millions of viewers tuning in this Sunday. Luckily for those of us who are fans of the genre, there are a few film ads for some upcoming movies that will make it worth our while to tune in!

Here’s a list of what we know will be showing during the Big Game so far:

‘World War Z’ – 30 sec spot airing sometime during the pre-game

‘Star Trek into Darkness’ – 30 sec spot airing during the second quarter

‘Iron Man 3’ – 60 sec preview

‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’– 60 sec spot

‘Oblivion’ – rumored

Considering that it cost $4 million for a 30 second ad spot, it’s not surprising the list of movie TV spots is limited. Sony and 20th Century Fox sources state that they have opted out from buying any ad time, which explains why we won’t be seeing anything on ‘The Wolverine,’ ‘After Earth,’ or ‘Elysium.’ You would think that since Universal is spending money on Vin Diesel’s action film ‘Fast and Furious 6,’ they’d shell out another $4 million to advertise ‘Riddick,’ but I guess it’s not in the budget.

Of course this may all change as it gets closer to game day and the list may get longer. Either way, for this geek girl, I’ll gladly sit and watch football for the chance to see even a snippet of new footage from ‘Star Trek into Darkness’ and ‘Iron Man 3.’ How about you?
