Recruitment for the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (a.k.a. S.H.I.E.L.D.) has just added another agent. Brett Dalton has now become the newest member to star in the Joss Whedon pilot that centers on the secret peace keeping organization that was featured in the Marvel Cinemantic Universe.

Dalton is a relative newcomer who credits include an appearance in CBS’ ‘Blue Bloods’ and Lifetime’s ‘Army Wives.’ He will be seen next in the National Geographic telepic ‘Killing Lincoln’ where he plays Robert Todd Lincoln.

In the pilot, Dalton will play Agent Grant, “one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s highly-skilled rising stars. He’s deadly, precise, and cool under fire — but not so great with the people skills.” In the character breakdown that was released last month, Grant is also described as “quite the physical specimen and cool under fire but tends to botch interpersonal relations. He’s a quiet one with a bit of a temper, but he’s the kind of guy that grows on you.” From the looks of Dalton, he seems to fit the bill.

Dalton will be joining Ming-Na who will be playing Agent Melinda May, Clark Gregg who is reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson, Elizabeth Henstridge as science whiz Agent Gemma Simmons and Ian De Caestecker as tech guru Agent Leo Fitz.

Whedon wrote the pilot alongside his brother Jed and sister-in –law Maurissa Tanchareon. The three also teamed up to write and produce the web sensation ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog’ which aired on the CW network a couple months ago. If Whedon’s schedule works out, he will also direct the pilot to ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Filming on ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ is expected to begin in January.

So what do you think? Does Dalton look like he has what it takes to be an agent? Sound off in the comments below!
