With all the buzz going on about Bryan Fuller’s pilot ‘Mockingbird Lane,’ some have forgotten that there is another horror show that he’s involved in with the network. That one is now getting some online attention and thanks to EW, we have the first look of the cast of the new series ‘Hannibal.’

‘Hannibal’ is about the early years of the infamous serial killer (played by Mads Mikkelsen) and his partnership between him and FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). Together they solve murder cases while his own obsession of a certain type of meat served with fava beans and chianti remains hidden. As Fuller describes it:

“It’s before he was incarcerated, so he’s more of a peacock. There is a cheery disposition to our Hannibal. He’s not being telegraphed as a villain. If the audience didn’t know who he was, they wouldn’t see him coming. What we have is Alfred Hitchcock’s principle of suspense — show the audience the bomb under the table and let them sweat when it’s going to go boom. So the audience knows who Hannibal is so we don’t have to overplay his villainy. We get to subvert his legacy and give the audience twists and turns.”

The series received a 13 episode order and was originally scheduled to air in the Fall season. Currently, there is no date as to when the series will begin airing.

The images below do exude a creepiness factor and a lot of gore but for some reason it reminds me of the series ‘Dexter’ with the similar premise of a serial killer helping law enforcement to solve crimes while keeping his own gory sadistic tendencies hidden. Hopefully, this isn’t the case and the series will have a spin that the cable series doesn’t.

Check out the stills below and let me know if you’d watch ‘Hannibal’ or if you, too, think it’s a watered down network version of ‘Dexter.’

‘Hannibal’ stars Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne , ettienne Park and Caroline Dhavernas and hopefully will air sometime soon on NBC .
