Syfy has renewed its unscripted competition series, ‘Total Blackout’ for a second season ordering 16 more new episodes.
For those not familiar with the game show, contestants are placed in a room that is pitch black and must complete several challenges for cash prizes. With most people, nothing is more terrifying than being in a room where you can’t see a thing. What makes the show entertaining is the hilarious freak outs by the contestants as their imagination goes wild during the challenges.
The show is hosted by Jaleel White (‘Family Matters,’ ‘Dancing with the Stars’) and was Syfy’s highest new show of 2012 boasting an average of 1.2 million viewers since its debut in April. ‘Total Blackout’ has also found much success in the foreign markets especially in Denmark, Japan and Russia.
” ‘Total Blackout’ has become a compelling new hit, and a great addition to our growing slate of unscripted programming,” says Mark Stern, President of Syfy’s original content division.
The first 8 episodes of the new season will begin airing on Tuesday, November 13.
