Yesterday we got to see the new UK trailer for the upcoming sci-fi action thriller ‘Looper.’ Now we have the newest trailer for you courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.
This second trailer is not as spoiler rich as the international one and contains some great new footage. I particularly liked the beginning with Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt sitting in the diner having a showdown of sorts.
In an era where most sci-fi films are either about superheroes or remakes, it’s nice to see something that looks unique. I also like the fact that they threw in the messiness of time travel and paradoxes with Gordon-Levitt asking his future Willis self, “Do you know what’s going to happen? You done all this already?”
Writer/director Rian Johnson had tweeted yesterday that if you have already made up your mind about seeing his movie, ‘Looper,’ then it’s best not to watch any of the trailers that will be coming out as you would better appreciate the film with fresh eyes:
Unfortunately, since I report on this stuff, I can’t take his recommendations but I can say that this is one movie I really hope lives up to the trailers.
Here’s the synopsis of the film if you’re not familiar with the movie:
“In the futuristic action thriller ‘Looper’, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.”

‘Looper’ is written and directed by Rian Johnson and, aside from Gordon-Levitt and Willis, also stars Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels, and Paul Dano. It is set to release in the US on September 28, 2012.
