It’s kind of bad when a movie about the making of a movie has me more excited than just another movie in the series, but that’s what’s happening with ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’. The film, as the title so obviously implies, is about the legendary director’s struggle to make his 1960 horror masterpiece.
The film is already well under way with an astounding crew at the helm. Sacha Gervasi, who directed the wonderful documentary ‘Anvil! The Story of Anvil’, is in the director’s chair for ‘Making of Psycho’. He will be working from a script by John McLaughlin (‘Black Swan’) and Stephen Rebello, the author of the book on which the movie is based.
Late yesterday, Deadline reported that actress Jessica Biel (‘The Illusionist’) has joined the cast as Vera Miles, the actress who played Lila in the original ‘Psycho’. Biel joins a solid cast that already included Athony Hopkins (Alfred Hitchcock), Helen Mirren (Alma Reville), Scarlett Johansson (Janet Leigh), and James D’Arcy (Anthony Perkins).
Word is that Biel took the role from several other actresses who were in contention. If you can’t wait for the release of ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’ to see more Biel on the big screen, her next appearance will be in the remake of ‘Total Recall’ in which she will be starring with Colin Farrell.
