Over the past several months, clips of Nickelodeon’s ‘The Legend of Korra’, the sequel to the hit ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, have been reaching the net. The few teaser trailers that were released merely said that the show was “coming soon”. Many fans were expecting that that vague statement could mean anything from late summer all the way through winter time. Some were even speculating early 2013. Now the fan site for the show (yes… it has a fan site even though not a single episode has aired) Korra Nation has given us a release date for the show. And that date is much sooner than expected. ‘The Legend of Korra’ is now set to hit Nickelodeon on April 14, 2012. That means fans have only a few weeks to wait!
The new show is set many decades after the first series, which told the story of Aang, a young airbender who was the fabled Avatar, the master of the four elements of air, fire, water, and earth. In ‘The Legend of Korra’, Aang is gone and a new Avatar is born to take his place. This time around, it’s Korra. Korra is a hot-headed young girl who, unlike Aang at the start of the last series, has already mastered the elements of fire, water, and earth. As ‘The Legend of Korra’ begins, Korra sets out to learn airbending from Tenzin, the son of the original serie’s Aang and Katara.
Along with the announcement of the air date of the premiere of ‘The Legend of Korra’, Nickelodeon also released another new teaser trailer for the show. Check it out below.
And while you’re at it, check out my favorite clip of the show that’s been released so far in which a young roly-poly Korra shows off her Avatar powers.
