A few days ago, Universal Pictures sent out a press release announcing the synopsis and cast list of the ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ sequel starring Vin Diesel. Well, you can add one more name on that list as it’s being reported that WWE wrestler Dave Bautista will be joining the cast in Montreal. According to THR, Bautista will be playing someone named Diaz. Whether he is a friend or foe to Riddick we don’t know yet but apparently he will be featured a lot in the movie.
Looks like Bautista is following the footsteps of Andre the Giant and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, former wrestlers going into the acting area. He just finished a stint on ‘Man With the Iron Fists’ opposite Russell Crowe and starred in the movies ‘Wrong Side of Town’ and ‘House of the Rising Sun’ as well as the direct to DVD feature ‘The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption.’
Bautista will be joining cast members Jordi Molla, Katee Sackhoff, Karl Urban and Matt Nable in what looks to be a very exciting installment to the series. The still untitled ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ sequel is being directed by David Twohy who also called the shots on the two previous ‘Riddick’ movies. No release date has been given but the movie is said to have an R-rating.
