On March 23rd, we will be introduced to ‘The Hunger Games’, the beginning of the trilogy. Fans of the novels by Suzanne Collins already know what is to happen in ‘Catching Fire’, the upcoming sequel. Catching Fire is set to debut in November of 2013. Screenwriter Simon Beaufoy of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and ‘127 Hours’ will be penning the exciting sequel, showing the aftermath of the ‘Hunger Games’. Director Gary Ross will also be returning.
As a huge fan of the books, I’m already weary of the movies. I usually am when it comes to movies from books that I enjoy, and I’ve already seen some change. I haven’t seen anything that makes me think that I won’t see it. As long as the intensity of the books is captured I think they will do well. I’m excited to see Simon Beaufoy come aboard for the second movie, because he could really bring something different to the table if the ‘Hunger Games’ is messed up in some way. ‘The Hunger Games’ is being penned into a screenplay by Gary Ross, Suzanne Collins (the author of the books) and Billy Ray. With Suzanne Collins in the mix, there should be little room for error.
What do you think of Simon Beaufoy coming aboard? How are you feeling about what you see in the Hunger Games trailers?
