It’s with a heavy heart that I report that Starz has officially canceled ‘Camelot.’

I can’t believe this is happening.  Finally…finally, there’s an adaptation of the Arthurian legend that I’ve fallen in love with and Starz just arbitrarily cancels it.  When I initially heard the news, I guess it would come as no surprise to those who know me that my language was quite “colorful.”  Some four-letter words rolled off my tongue with such ease, and it seemed so natural in this situation.  While I’m more composed than I was before, this news is still disappointing on so many different levels.

Deadline was the first to break this story, and they reported that it was NOT due to bad ratings (a nasty rumor circulating).  Rather, it seems it was caused by “significant production challenges,” or in other words, scheduling conflicts.  See, it seems as though Starz might not have locked the cast of ‘Camelot’ in for further seasons, which means when different projects arise (like Jamie Campbell Bower’s role in ‘The Mortal Instruments’) the actors aren’t obligated to come back for subsequent seasons.

Why would they not have locked the stars of ‘Camelot’ in for future seasons?  Did the network not have much faith in the show from the get go?  ‘Camelot’ pulled a total of 1.5 million viewers – that’s not disappointing in the least!  It’s a shame to see a series get pulled because a few of the stars made other plans.

And it seems that because they didn’t have to foresight to tie the actors in for another season, those of us who loved ‘Camelot’ are forced to watch it die… what an injustice.

I will certainly miss ‘Camelot’. My passion for the show is apparent in my article Camelot vs Game of Thrones which brought many heated discussions.
