Lots of people dread April 15 because it’s tax day, but here’s something that might brighten it up for you, especially if you’re a ‘Sanctuary’ fan. Your favorite show will be returning to Syfy at 10 PM on Fridays, starting on this infamous day.

The third season will pick up where the mid-season cliffhanger left off. Season three will have 20 episodes in total, making it the longest season of ‘Sanctuary’ to date. The extended season allowed for a longer and more gradually developed storyline. In contrast, seasons one and two had only 13 episodes each. The show has been renewed for a fourth season and will go back to the 13 episode format, though Syfy didn’t specify why they were discontinuing the lengthened seasons.

The season finale is expected to air in June and season four should be commencing sometime in the fall.

‘Sanctuary’ follows the adventures of the beautiful, enigmatic and always surprising Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping), a brilliant scientist who holds the secrets of a clandestine population – a group of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that hide among humans.

Along with her new recruit, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne) and her quirky tech wiz Henry (Ryan Robbins), Magnus seeks to protect these threatened phenomena as well as unlock the mysteries behind their existence. The series also stars Christopher Heyerdahl as the sinister John Druitt.

Created by Damian Kindler (‘Stargate SG-1,’ ‘Stargate Atlantis’), ‘Sanctuary’ is produced in association with Syfy and is distributed by Tricon Films and Television. The show is executive produced by Damian Kindler, Sam Egan, Amanda Tapping, Martin Wood, Keith Beedie and N. John Smith.
