Sonic Solutions® has announced that Alphaline Entertainment, a new download service offered by Sears (RoxioNow™ platform licensee), has been released as of December 28, 2010. This service allows both Sears and Kmart customers to download their favorite entertainment online. What makes this project even more exciting is that customers will also be able to download and watch movies on the day they’re released and can view them in either DVD or Blue-ray format.
Sonic is in continual collaboration with Sears to ensure compatibility with a vast amount of connected devices. By aiming to support most electronic devices, Sonic and Sears will expand their market and make their download site widely available to most everyone. Karen Austin, President of Consumer Electronics for Sears and Kmart is quoted as saying, “Collaborating with Sonic provides a great opportunity for Sears and Kmart to launch digital services for customers seeking even faster access to the latest in home entertainment experiences. We’ll continue to increase the reach and flexibility of the Alphaline Entertainment service by providing consumers on-demand access to the latest entertainment from a range of home and mobile electronics.”
Not only is this launch a milestone for Sears, but it’s a big step for Sonic Solutions® as well. This gives them yet another Roxio-Now storefront that’s working hard to serve entertainment consumers.
The website offers a wide range of search options, and consumers can find what they’re looking for just by navigating the menu bar to the left. You can also rent or buy movies and view featured movies and staff picks right by clicking on the links that appear on the home page.
