About Janice Kay

Janice Kay profile photo
Janice's first memories of the genre were of watching the original 'Star Trek' and classic 'Doctor Who' episodes (Tom Baker, aka the Fourth Doctor, was her first). Soon, she was introduced to 'Godzilla' and her addiction then spread to books, magazines, movies and comics. Janice continued as a closet geek as her thirst and love for sci-fi grew and was only second to her love of baking. Then one night, on a whim, she answered a tweet to be a writer for ScienceFiction.com and the geek girl insider her was soon set free. Within 3 years she became the Senior Editor for the site. When not writing or editing for ScienceFiction.com, Janice is scouring the internet to feed her sci-fi cravings while defending conspiracy theories, protecting scientific theorems and loving all things science fiction.... and baking cookies.

  • Guillermo Del Toro Introduces ‘Pacific Rim’ Japanese Trailer

    Posted Friday, May 3rd, 2013 12:08 pm GMT -5

It’s quite obvious that the roots of ‘Pacific Rim’ are steeped in Japanese culture.  Nods to mangas and even the use of the name Kaiju for the aliens (which is an homage to the genre that brought Godzilla and Mothra to the big screen) are clear indications of this. Guillermo del Toro wants it made […]

The hardest thing in life is to accept that someone you trusted is not the person you thought they were. Betrayal stings deep and while the Hood deals with criminals whose betrayals hurt the innocent, it’s the ones close to home that hurts Oliver the most making him rethink about those who is in his […]

Some movies have audiences stumped as to whether they should pay the extra money to see a film in 3D. ‘Snowpiercer’ is one of those movies that is leaning to be a sleeper hit. It’s from the South Korean director Joon-ho Bong who has already made a name for himself with horror fans with the film ‘The Host’ (not to be mistaken with the disappointing Andrew McNiccol sci-fi film ‘The Host’). ‘Snowpiercer’ is Bong’s first […]

Greg Rucka is a celebrated and award winning comic book writer, so when he has something to say, genre fans do listen. Not only did he create the series ‘Queen and Country’ and ‘Stumptown’, but he’s also written many comic book series involving iconic superheroes such as Wonder Woman, Wolverine, Punisher and Superman.  But it’s […]

One of the things I like about ‘Once Upon a Time’ is how they explore a fairy tale character’s backstory. As kids, we read the simplistic version of a tale and as we become adults, we realize that life is not always as simple as the stories make it seem. Last night’s episode reveals another layer of […]

The concept of time travel is a staple in science fiction and sometimes it can get a bit confusing – especially when used as a plot device in movies. Believe it or not, despite the large amount of sci-fi movies that are in existence, there are only a handful that really use time travel as […]

It’s Saturday night and for many Whovians that means plating up some fish fingers and custard with a side of jammie dodgers. That’s right! ‘Doctor Who’ airs tonight and in anticipation, we have another clip from the episode ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’. The clip obviously is from the beginning of the show […]
