One of the interesting concepts being introduced with ‘Doctor Strange‘ is the idea of alternate dimensions and going forward we’ve learned from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige that they will be important. Now, comic readers have long known about alternate dimensions and timelines and how they’ve played into telling unique stories or bringing back characters who have died in the main 616 continuity, so this could be an interesting way to change things up.

Speaking on the topic, Feige state:

“We’re 14 movies in and at the end of the day we have to push the boundaries. You need something different and certainly, this movie and this character [Doctor Strange] fits all of that. Tapping into other dimensions, tapping into sort of that supernatural realm of the Marvel Comic Universe is gonna come in handy, you know, as we move forward in the cinematic universe, so the timing is perfect.”

It really sounds like the aspects introduced or expanded upon here will prove pivotal to the future of Marvel. Though, as we know from ‘Ant-Man’ there is a Quantum Realm or Microverse already where the original Wasp might be trapped. Mix in the fact that the time stone might be hidden away in the Eye of Agamotto and you can quickly see some of the potential ties into other characters and this is probably just scratching the surface.

Are you looking forward to how ‘Doctor Strange’ will expand Marvel’s Cinematic Universe? What from the supernatural and alternate dimensions do you feel will play into the story going forward? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
