The Walking Dead

There was a time when the ratings of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ were able to put the Super Bowl to shame but those days are long gone. That isn’t stopping zombie apocalypse from going up against the largest sporting event in the United States this year. Season 9 is returning during the big game, but for those who are subscribers to the AMC Premiere service, you’ll be able to check out the Greg Nicotero-directed episode “Adaptation” a little early. To be specific, it will be available for viewing on February 3rd, 2019!

That is right around the corner, and there is a method to AMC’s madness. The last time ‘The Walking Dead’ was able to air early on the service had the premiere having a low in normal ratings but gave the service the largest set of signups which they’ve had to date in a single time period. With the service being available on Comcast, YouTube TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Apple iOS there are plenty of ways to take advantage of this as well.

We’re still not likely to see the ninth season return to the days that it would usurp the throne of ratings from this year’s Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, but while many will be rooting for either the Los Angeles Rams or the New England Patriots on CBS, it won’t be everyone out there. Many viewers are still interested in what Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, and Jeffery Dean Morgan are going to be up to and see more of how the community is developing now that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes is no longer part of the show.

Will you be watching ‘The Walking Dead’ for the midseason debut? If so, will you be watching it early on AMC Premiere, on AMC during the Super Bowl, or checking it out after the fact? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
