Marvel Always Knew Avengers: Endgame Was The Title Of The Next Film

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been dying to know what the sequel to ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ would be since the movie was announced and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had shared that it was in place before Thanos ever got around to snapping his fingers. In fact, when Benedict Cumberbatch uttered the famous line “We’re in the end game now” it was because the writers already had the name for the sequel lined up.

While a few guessed it, very few moviegoers suspected that the next movie would end up being titled ‘Avengers: Endgame‘.

Easter Egg or not, it should come as no surprise that the MCU already had this in place with their feature film timeline planned out years in advance.

The news came from Feige during the Golden Globes where he shared:

“It was in place before we started developing the movie or just as we were developing it, yes. So, Doctor Strange says that line because we knew it was the title.”

While our heroes may have lost to Thanos in the last outing, we know that Strange found one way for The Avengers to win and, with his final breath, the Sorcerer Supreme was hinting that we’re on that path. I’m sure that a few people who were dying to know the name sooner might be wishing that when Doctor Strange went through this…

…that some of Marvel’s marketing team had to suffer the same fate. You can’t argue the success that came from hyping the next movie by not giving us the name sooner. Yes, it plays directly into the plan laid out by Doctor Strange, but it also kept fans guessing the entire time!
