Kumail Nanjiani is the latest actor to sign on for an episode of CBS All Access’ ‘The Twilight Zone’.  Najiani is a regular cast member of HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley’ but the producers of that series recently announced that the next season of that series will not go into production until summer of 2019, due to showrunner Alec Rubens commitment to his other HBO series ‘Barry’.  As a representative stated, “As Alec is a showrunner on both Barry and Silicon Valley, the schedule was structured to allow Alec to wrap on Barry before starting work on Silicon Valley.”  That frees Najiani up to perform elsewhere.

While there is not much information about the ‘Twilight Zone’ episode in which Nanjiani will appear, it is known that it will be written by Alex Rubens.  The new series is executive produced by Jordan Peele, who will also host an narrate.  Rubens previously worked with Peele on ‘Key and Peele’, ‘Keanu’ and ‘Big Mouth’, and also penned an episode of ‘Rick & Morty’.

Naniani recently wrapped a role in the ‘Men in Black’ spin-off movie starring Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth, in which he portrays an alien named Pawny.  He also lent his voice to ‘The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle’.  Last year, he received great acclaim for his role in the autobiographical Amazon film ‘The Big Sick’.  He also appeared in this year’s indie ‘Duck Butter’ and will be seen in the upcoming 20th Century Fox comedy ‘Stuber’.

It was previously announced that Sanaa Latham (‘Nappily Ever After’) and Adam Scott (‘Big Little Lies’) would also headline episodes of ‘The Twilight Zone’.  Scott’s episode will be an updating of the classic episode “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet,” which originally starred William Shatner.  The new episode is instead titled “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet.”  Lathan’s episode is undisclosed, as is Nanjiani’s.

Are you looking forward to the update of ‘The Twilight Zone’?
