Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Netflix’s ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ premieres tomorrow.  The first season consists of ten episodes and the series was created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as showrunner.  Aguirre-Sacasa also wrote the dark ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’, one of the first comic books that was part of an effort to update the Archie brand for adult readers.  Robert Hack drew the ‘Chilling Adventures’ comic and his artwork is on full display in the opening credits sequence of the new show.  While there is some new artwork meant to better resemble the actors on the show, including Kiernan Shipka, who stars at the titular Teenage Witch, and Ross Lynch who plays her human boyfriend Harvey Kinkle.  And there’s even a nod to Dan DeCarlo, who drew the original, lighthearted ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ that inspired the newer, darker ‘Chilling Adventures’ comic and TV series.

Ahead of the show’s premiere, the ‘Chilling Adventures’ Twitter page has shared the title sequence which looks like the comic book come to life.  Check it out below:

This is unusual, as these days, most TV shows don’t even have an opening credit sequence.

As you can tell from the clip, the series regulars also include Lucy Davis, who plays Sabrina’s more nurturing Aunt Hilda; Miranda Otto, Sabrina’s more chilling Aunt Zelda; Chance Perdomo as Sabrina’s necromancer cousin Ambrose; Jaz Sinclair as Sabrina’s human BFF Rosalind Walker; Tati Gabrielle and Adeline Rudolph as Prudence and Agatha, two of the Weird Sisters, who torment Sabrina at Academy of Unseen Arts; Michelle Gomez as teacher Mary Wardell, who later becomes the dark Madam Satan; and  Richard Coyle as the sinister Father Blackwood, leader of the witches’ coven.

Though not listed in the credits, the cast also includes recurring stars Abigail F. Cowen as Agatha, the third Weird Sister; Bronson Pinchot as principal George Hawthorne, at Sabrina’s human school, Baxter High; Lachlan Watson as another human friend, farm girl Susie Putnam; and Ty Wood who appears to play another human classmate, Billy Marlin.

‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ will be available on Netflix tomorrow, Friday, October 26.
