‘Harry Potter’ creator J.K. Rowling previously announced that the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise would span over five movies total. Now, Rowling has revealed that, just like with the ‘Harry Potter’ novels, she has the entire story planned out. Rowling said:

“As with the ‘Harry Potter’ books, it is all mapped out. In fact, when we announced the five films, I talked about that. It’s always possible that some details will change along the way, but the arc of the story is there. It’s been an amazing opportunity to tell parts of the backstory that never made it into the original books. I’m thinking particularly of one character that I think fans will be surprised to meet in this movie.”

Fans of ‘Harry Potter’ were already familiar with certain aspects of the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise, as names like Newt Scamander and Gellert Grindelwald were referenced in the story. Rowling has mentioned that she even had ideas back then for how the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ story would fit into the ‘Potter’ universe as a whole.

The second installment of the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise is just weeks away from release, and Rowling is hard at work writing the screenplay for the third film. But the fact that she has the overall story planned doesn’t mean that Rowling has every little detail figured out. Recently, the author took to Twitter to express that she was having some difficulty figuring some things out. Even the Queen gets writer’s block!

‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ opens in theaters on November 17! Check out the official trailer for the film below.
