While we still do not know when in 2019 Amazon plans to release the second season of ‘The Tick’ (the first season of which, in my opinion, was a lot of fun), thanks to an exclusive first look photo by IGN, we do know that The Tick will be getting yet another costume upgrade during the second season. This will not be the first time he has changed costumes in the series. In the pilot he had a very different suit than what he wore for the rest of the first season, being a much lighter blue with different detail work, looking a bit more insect-like and less bulky. Most fans did not really like it all that much and they changed it for the second episode with little comment within the show about what happened (though it should be noted that Arthur DID notice that the Tick looked different, so they did not simply change the suit and pretend nothing happened).
Now the suit has changed once more, and the new iteration looks to be more in line with the suit from the comics and the original series, a bit bulkier, a bit bluer, and making our hero seem far more like the character we have known and loved over the years. And with Arthur standing next to him in a costume that does not look to have changed from the first season, it can be assumed at this point that the Tick’s suit will be the only one changing for Season 2.
I am beginning to wonder if maybe this will be a plot point explored at some time in the series with the possibility that the exterior change harkens some “powering up” by the Tick or something like that. I don’t know, but it would be interesting. We’ll just have to wait and see if Arthur notices that the Tick’s look has changed again or if they just start the season with a new suit and everyone in that universe does not even acknowledge it.
