For anyone who liked seeing Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth on-screen together in ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ I have some good news for you! News has just come out that Tessa Thompson is going to be reuniting with Hemsworth in Sony’s ‘Men in Black‘ reboot! To be clear, Hemsworth’s deal on this picture is not one-hundred percent closed just yet, but sources say it is all but a done deal, so it looks like this is really happening.
For those unaware of what this spin-off is all about, the ‘Men in Black’ reboot is being directed by F. Gary Gray (‘Fate of the Furious’) and written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum (who wrote the screenplay for the original MCU film, ‘Iron Man’), with Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald coming back as producers for the movie and Steven Spielberg himself returning to the franchise as an executive producer.
The idea is to relaunch the franchise similar to how ‘Jurassic World‘ relaunched the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise, keeping it in the same universe but starring a different set of characters (and of course leaving the door open for the original cast to make appearances). Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will not be returning, but the story will take place in the world they operated within, though rumor has it the whole thing will take place on a much more global scale and be more of an ensemble cast. All of which does sound intriguing, as ‘Men in Black’ was always ripe with possibilities, and the argument could be made the only thing holding them back was the price-tag of the original stars.
As for Tessa Thompson, she has been very busy of late, not only starring in ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ but also having a major role in the upcoming 2nd Season of HBO’s ‘Westworld,‘ not to mention roles in ‘Annihilation,’ ‘Creed II,’ and the upcoming ‘Sorry to Bother You.’
What are your thoughts on her and Hemsworth being the new duo to lead the ‘Men in Black’ ensemble? Are you excited to see where the franchise takes us next? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
