What more can one say besides Mike Colter’s line from the new teaser for ‘Luke Cage’ Season 2:
“You can’t burn me, you can’t blast me, and you definitely can’t break me. Wanna test me? Step up. I’m right here.”
The new teaser confirms that Luke Cage is now well-known in Harlem, and is openly challenging villains to step up if they think they can, but warning them to back away because Luke is there to protect the people in his neighborhood, which anyone can see will eventually lead to some problems for Luke when someone steps up that really can prove a challenge for the unbreakable man.
The new footage looks intense and just as fun as what we saw in Season 1, though we did not really see much in the way of characters we recognize besides Luke. I was hoping to spot Danny Rand, or Misty Knight, or even Claire somewhere, but this was just a teaser after all. The teaser did end with a release date for Season 2, June 22nd, meaning we do not have long to wait at all to see the continuation of Luke’s adventures, especially since we are already getting ‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2 this week. This means there is only about a 3 month break between visits to the Netflix corner of the MCU and I am just fine with that as ‘Luke Cage’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ were my favorites of the MCU series on Netflix.
Things I am looking forward to the most? Seeing Luke and Iron Fist in action together and the continuation of their bromance started in ‘The Defenders‘ (as long as Finn Jones continues to improve his combat and acting skills as Danny Rand, I’d hate for him to bring down this show too), seeing Misty Knight back in action with her new bionic hand, and seeing what new tricks they are going to pull out to show off Luke’s abilities against whatever villain they put him up against this season, as they seem to have fun finding ways to remind us that Luke is bulletproof.
