WARNING: If you haven’t seen ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ yet and really don’t care about spoilers, then read on!
There was a small Marvel Studios premiere this week for ‘Black Panther,’ and at it, one brave reporter was able to grab Andy Serkis long enough to ask about Supreme Leader Snoke. More importantly, Serkis was asked about the chance that he could return to the big screen one more time. While we saw Snoke cut in two by a lightsaber in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi,‘ there are a few of ways which this could be a red herring.
If Snoke indeed was so strong in The Force as has been hinted at, he could easily have been projecting himself the way that Luke Skywalker had been at the end of the film. On the flipside, bringing himself back from the dead could finally prove the fan rumor that Snoke is indeed Palpatine’s ex-master, Darth Plagueis.
Serkis himself though was a bit vague on the answer. While he hasn’t spoken to J.J. Abrams yet as for any plans for Snoke returning in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ he does say that:
“Look, it’s Star Wars, so you never know how life, or whether life can be come back to or not. Whether you can be resuscitated or brought back. I was shocked. Dramatically, it felt absolutely right for that moment in the film, so I didn’t question it. I just think it’s a very, very important scene, so I didn’t question it. But I do, I know it’s left fans feeling like, that they were really searching for something there. And what I’m saying is, who knows?”
That does leave some wiggle room for Snoke to return. We’ve got two theories up above which could lead into how Snoke is brought back to life or never even died in the first place, and there are easily more ideas out there which could also explain it. As shown on ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and later ‘Star Wars Rebels’ by the return of Darth Maul, surviving being cut in half isn’t an impossibility.
I don’t honestly believe for a moment that we’ll see Snoke return but I because of everything here I can’t just rule it out either.
