stephen king castle rock

We recently found out that an ongoing anthology series about Stephen King’s connected works was coming to Hulu titled ‘Castle Rock,‘ but it appears that the author himself doesn’t know much about it. J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot is bringing the series to the streaming service and like much of Abrams’ work , t is shrouded in mystery. Surprisingly though it is a mystery even to the author.

King was recently asked about an update on how the series is going to look when hitting Hulu and stated:

“I’m as much in the dark as anybody else. I don’t know anything about it, so I just hope it turns out really well. It must be going okay. It’s typical J.J. [Abrams]. There’s been nothing that I’ve seen in the press, or anything, about it.”

From ‘Star Trek’ to ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and everything else Abrams works on, he goes to great lengths to try and keep his work a secret, so this isn’t too surprising. King recently co-authored a new novella titled ‘Gwendy’s Button Box’ with Rich Chizmar which takes place in the town and has revitalized King’s love of the area that so many of his works have taken place in.

“It kind of renewed my interest in Castle Rock. I hadn’t thought about that place in a long time, and I think Rich knew more about the backstory of the town than I did, but he got me interested in it. Now I’ve written another novella called Elevation, which is also a Castle Rock story and, in some ways, it’s almost like a sequel to Gwendy. Sometimes you seed the ground, and you get a little fertilizer, and things turn out.”

With his new passion for the town of Castle Rock, it seems like it would make the author even more curious as to how things are playing out.
